Once again we have had a cub claim his Silver Chief Scout’s Award, the highest badge that is awarded for cubs. The district commissioner visited the troop on Tuesday 5th June to present the Chief Scout Silver award.

New Scouts
Congratulations to our six new Scouts who were invested this week.
District 5-a-side
Our 5-a-side team worked hard this year in the District competition. Despite not winning outright, the team did very well.
Fun in the snow
Scouts had a great time in the snow during their meeting, making snowmen, a snow-pig (and a few snowballs). This was followed up with a hot drink and some indoor activities to dry off.
Service awards – where does the time go?
Leaders’ service awards go to Moira (30 years and still smiling), Jonny and Frank have served 5 years each.
October investitures and Chief Scouts Awards
October was a special month for many members in the Group. Older Scouts moved up to the Explorer Section, Older Cubs got invested into the troop and four Chief Scouts awards were presented by Anne Law, our District Commissioner. Well done and best wishes for your future in Scouting!
Camping Competition 2017
The team also had a celebratory meal together once the dust had settled!
Summer Camp 2017
Summer camp at the Auchengillan jamboree was enjoyed by all the scouts and explorers who attended with some describing it as the best camp ever. It was wet, it was sunny, it was misty so a typical Scottish summer. AJ17 had a very international make-up, with scouting friends from Weurt, near Nijmegen, Netherlands, sharing our camp. Amongst other things the scouts enjoyed an outdoor pool party, a foam party and a paint party.
Zonal Camping Competition winners
Well done to our camping competition team who won the Auchengillan South and West Zonal camping competition and have automatically qualified for the national finals in September.
May Camp 2017
The troop had its May camp in Fordell Firs this year. We were able to complete a lot of the outdoor challenge including making camp gadgets, tent pitching and cooking a meal on an open fire.
